A 11 Initiative representative Milica Marinković attended her third consecutive “Advocacy Week”, international gathering which took place in Brussels from November 11 to 15.
This annual event is organized by the Swedish foundation Kvinna till Kvinna, known for its support of women’s rights and peace activism in conflict and post-conflict regions.
During Advocacy Week, activists and representatives of women’s organizations from different countries gather in Brussels to connect with key European decision-makers, including members of the European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission, and other relevant institutions.
The goal of the event is to amplify the voices of women facing challenges such as gender-based violence, discrimination and limited access to the rights of marginalized groups.
During this international gathering, Milica Marinković had the opportunity to meet with members of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) for Serbia, representatives of countries involved in bodies responsible for diplomatic relations with countries in the accession negotiation process (COWEB, COELA, EEAS), as well as representatives of several human rights organizations from Brussels.
These meetings highlighted the difficulties that Roma women and men face in accessing economic and social rights.
It was a great honor to once again participate in such a large-scale event organized by the Kvinna till Kvinna foundation, as this Swedish foundation, its partner organizations, and the A 11 Initiative share a common goal – better protection of the economic and social rights of women, especially women on the margins.
