Invitation to Participate in the Practicum Program for Economic and Social Rights

The Union University Law School and the A 11 – Initiative for Economic and Social Rights invite interested undergraduate and graduate students to apply to participate in an extracurricular program Practicum for Economic and Social Rights, which will take place in the summer semester 2018/2019.

The purpose of the Practicum program is to provide an opportunity for students to get a better understanding of key theoretical principles on which economic and social rights are based, their place in the system of human rights protection, on both the global and regional level, as well as some of the challenges in terms of exercising those rights in the Republic of Serbia.  Along with local professors, experts in the protection of economic and social rights and visiting lecturers, the Practicum program will offer practical tools for dealing with these rights, try to highlight their most important aspects through specific problems citizens in Serbia are facing, and provide a framework necessary to understand this topic. In addition to theoretical issues, topics of poverty and development, discrimination of minority groups, attraction of foreign investments, budget policies and austerity measures, forced eviction, etc. will also be discussed during the Praktikum program.

The Practicum program will last eight weeks: from 11 March 2019 to 20 May 2019, with a break during the April exam period. Lectures will be held in classroom 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
