Donor: Olof Palme International Center
Project duration: May 2024 – April 2025
The main goal of this project is to improve the protection of the economic and social rights of the most vulnerable citizens of Serbia. A 11 Initiative aims to improve access to economic and social rights of the Roma community in Serbia, as well as other workers who come from particularly sensitive communities with a high risk of labor exploitation. The project will highlight the systemic challenges that Serbia faces in realizing the economic and social rights of vulnerable groups in terms of their position on the labor market and the overall position of workers in precarious jobs.
The project consists of four main activities which are:
- School of Economic and Social Rights for activists, civil society organizations, trade unions, and representatives of the academic community
- Field visits and meetings with various interested parties leading to the analysis of labor exploitation and (in)formal work
- A campaign aimed at raising public awareness about improving access to labor rights for marginalized citizens
- Providing legal assistance, counseling, and representation in strategically important cases
