30 Aug A joint List of Issues for the Third Periodic Report of the Republic of Serbia has been submitted to the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
A11 – Initiative for Economic and Social Rights, together with certain civil society organizations and trade unions, regarding the implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, submitted a report on typical problems in the implementation of the Covenant, with proposals for the List of Issues for the Republic of Serbia to the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The purpose of the report is to encourage the promotion of protection and the exercise of economic and social rights in Serbia, through the influence of the Committee’s recommendations.
Pointing out that the national report does not contain sufficient analysis of the situation and that some important data were not provided, representatives of civil society organizations and trade unions jointly informed the Committee on the implementation of the Covenant in their fields of work, considering that this report represents a good opportunity to highlight the most important problems in realization of economic and social rights.
In addition to the A11 – Initiative for Economic and Social Rights that coordinated the process, the organizations that participated in the drafting of the report were: Centre for the Politics of Emancipation, Clean Clothes Campaign, Centre „Living Upright“, Ecumenical Humanitarian Organization, Alliance of Independent Trade Unions of Kragujevac, United branch union „Independence“, Institute for Urban Policies, MS Platform of Serbia, Association for Women’s Labor Rights – ROZA, Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Vojvodina and Committee for Human Rights Nis.
